It’s been a few months now since we have been in the new house, so I figured it was time for an update.

To start with, I want to acknowledge that this is where God has led us, and that it is by His grace that we are here. As I shared leading up to the move, we are here for family. That might sound like a cheesy line out of a Fast And Furious movie, but it’s what led us to making the move, and to pursue what God has for us here. It’s the next step in our family’s journey, and we are excited, and grateful to be here.

The experience has been challenging for us thus far. It’s definitely been one of those three steps forward, and two steps back sort of times. We have been challenged in many ways, with the house, relationally, and with my YWAM Missions Work.

Moving to this specific house was a huge step of faith. It was one that we had walked through a few times, and had reservations about when we did. In the end, with not much time until we had to be out of our old house, we felt God tell us in prayer that “we can make this work.”

And as we have found since we moved in, to make it work, we will REALLY need to work.

The thing with older homes is that there are often “hidden” issues that you don’t see when you do an initial walk through. I’ll chuck the list at the bottom of this letter if you want to check it out, but it is substantial, and always growing. It’s been great for my tool collection … I’ve always wanted to own a chain saw and ride on mower!

Our work with the Youth With A Mission Global Communications Team has continued. The YWAM News Show has continued to grow with our multiple live streams, social media channels, and email. We are able to share what God is doing in the nations, and also present opportunities for people to join in the work.

Thousands of people from around the world also join us for monthly prayer with “The Invitation”. We have been able to focus prayer on issues like Bible Translation, Global Revival, Iran, Muslim converts to Christianity, and more. It’s a joy to be able to connect with so many people for those prayer events.

We have also been connecting more with the local YWAM Centre at Norton Summit here in South Australia. Most of the work with them has been on their IT infrastructure and updating their existing web-site.

One thing that the move has highlighted is the need to grow our financial support. We have been amazingly blessed by the support of friends and family over the years, but since we moved back to Australia 14-years ago, our support has dropped significantly, while our expenses have only increased.

No one in Youth With A Mission receives an income. We are all full time volunteers, responsible for raising the finances needed to meet our own monthly financial needs. We do this through partnering with people, organisations, and churches who have a passion and desire to see the world change, and see God glorified throughout our work.

House “Issue” list:

• A shed that was meant to be my office sitting at a 4 degree angled slope, with a creek running under and through it whenever it rains
• Asbestos in the electrical
• Hot water system that is as old as one of our children
• Floors and walls that transmit sound like they’re not even there
• Odd sized openings and gaps in the walls
• Trees that are leaning, rotting, and randomly losing large branches when the wind blows
• Mould covered walls and ceilings in the garage
• Garage roller doors that randomly decide not to open or close
• Brick walls with 4 different linings on top of it
• Water pipes and downpipes that I can’t seem to figure out where the come from, or go to
• Leaking water tanks
• An electric fence that is broken in multiple places, and that I still haven’t figure out how to turn on and off
• Mysterious fruit trees that according to Google could be apple, pear, peach, nectarine, or mulberry
• The house being in a mobile / cellular “dark patch”, with regular dropped calls, delayed messages, and no wired or cellular Internet access
• Rabbits and kangaroos regularly digging up the garden beds
• Semi-regular electrical blackouts
• No waterproofing in one of the bathroom floors
